Mahesh Bhatt And Daughter Alia Get Death Threat From Unidentified Caller

Mahesh Bhatt also tweeted, "A bolt from the blue in the form of an extortion call & threat to my family was nipped in the bud by the MH & UP police in tandem.Gratitude!"

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has received a death threat from an unidentified caller who has demanded a sum of Rs 50 lakh from him.

This is literally shocking to know Alia Bhatt's father and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt received the extortion call on February 26.

Bhatt initially thought it was a prank. Neighbouring bungalow of Alia Bhatt has also received protection. If Mahesh fails to pay the ransom, the caller threatened to kill Alia and her mother. The man continued to send few more texts to Bhatt after which he stopped.

The accused allegedly threatened to harm Bhatt's family.

Since his wife's and daughter's lives were in danger, Mahesh Bhatt immediately made a decision to inform the cops.

Mahesh Bhatt even took it to micro-blogging site Twitter to share the news with his fans.

The Bhatts, who live in the posh Juhu locality of Mumbai, approached the area's police station - where a case has been registered, and transferred to the Anti Extortion Cell for further investigation. After which a group of 13 people from some gang was arrested in November 2014 for the same.

The police are taking the case very seriously and security has been beefed up to avoid any mishap.
