Derek Carr has a new fan after Good Samaritan act

Derek Carr, one of the best young QBs in the National Football League, recently helped a stranded motorist.

The Raiders quarterback, who still is recovering from a broken leg he suffered against the Colts in December, cast his mind far from his own problems when he spotted a stranger, DJ and music producer Ron Reeser, pulled over on the side of the road in a Bay Area suburb.

In a note to KTVU's Frank Somerville, Reeser explained that he was about to walk to a gas station after his vehicle ran out of gas.

Reeser gave Carr three things he would like him to pray for and the two men, sat on the side of the road and prayed together.

We pull up to the gas station I fill up the can, hop back in his truck and I ask him what position he plays. He says, "I'm a quarterback.' "What string" I ask".

Carr, by the way, will be in Modesto on March 24 for his "Chalk Talk" with fans at the Modesto Centre Place.

"I've grown up a Niners fan", Reeser said.

"He said 'Derek Carr'".

He replied "Can I pray for you?"

"He couldn't have been more down to earth", Reese said. I had no idea.

Derek Carr, what a guy. In addition to being a good quarterback, Carr also seems to be a sincerely nice person. Now he's just spending his offseason restoring people's faith in humanity.

But what really struck Reeser was when the two were about to part ways and Carr asked "Is there anything you'd like to pray for before I go?" In January - just a few weeks after suffering a season-ending injury and watching his team flame out in the playoffs without him - Carr helped police locate a missing child by staying woke on social media. "But the past year was pretty tough, and after my experience with Derek, I just may become a Raiders fan now".

Reeser, originally a 49er fan before his incident with Carr, joked that he reconsidered his National Football League team loyalty and possibly gave the Raiders a new fan.
