Eddie Murphy Teases a 'Coming to America' Sequel, and People Go Insane

Eddie Murphy hasn't been a box office smash in years, so when he posted a rare tweet about a possible sequel to "Coming To America", fans naturally were delighted about the possible return to form.

This comes only days after the comedian's official Twitter account tweeted a photo of Coming to America star Vanessa Bell Calloway with the phrase "Coming to America sequel?" The Tweet which is now deleted along with Murphy's account had everyone speaking on if the 1988 classic should get another installment.

According to TMZ, "sources" close to Murphy say he is in the "early writing stages" of the project. So, it really could happen, but folks are trippin" on how it ended up on Twitter "cause Eddie doesn't do social media.

Personally, I'm bang up for a Coming To America 2, but I'd be keen to hear your thoughts.

See how Hollywood honored Eddie Murphy in the BET video above. Disguised as a foreign student working in fast food, he romances Lisa (Shari Headley), but struggles with revealing his true identity to her and his marital intentions to his king father (James Earl Jones).

Coming To America followed the pampered African Prince Akeem (Murphy) from the fictional country of Zumunda, who travelled to the New York City borough of Queens.
