'Beauty and the Beast' review: A tale as old as time, revisited

Director Bill Condon, who directed "Dreamgirls", has created a stunning, beautiful, inclusive movie that is ultimately about a guy and a girl. The awkward pairing sees both music superstars trying unsuccessfully to emulate the magnetic chemistry between Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson in the 1991 radio-friendly rendition. Even if you have no plans to see the new movie, this segment is sure to put a smile on your face and distract you from the more serious things demanding your attention. Dan Stevens, who took on the role as the timeless character, says, "The beast is a little scary, a little animal, but he's also sweet and silly and ultimately, you know, a big fluffy sweetheart". But, fan or not, it is hard not to be charmed by the dazzling world of Beauty and the Beast. Character designs of the castle's inhabitants would likely have looked better had they remained faithful to the animated version, yet it was the one place they did not. But she soon starts to fall for the Beast and the enchanted staff of his castle, who were all put under a spell by a witch.

"When we sat down to talk about the fairy tale and the myth, I was just very excited to meet an actress who likes to engage these kind stories of fairy tale and myth in a big way".

"Controversial gay moment kept in Disney's #BeautyAndTheBeast". People were accustomed to seeing the prince in his beast form most of the time. The result was a smash hit on all fronts - and there's no reason to think the tale of Belle and her furry friend will be any different.

While the transmutation from animation to live action is impressive, it does make the movie feel sterile at times, especially in the more greenscreen-y moments.

A group of Reddit users found out that their Google Home played a short commercial for Beauty and The Beast. It is also doing well in Russian Federation, despite a restrictive rating slapped on the film after Condon recently revealed that Gad's character, Gaston's sidekick, is gay.
