CHP says San Jose Highway 101 shooting was gang-related

CHP investigators determined the driver of the Prius continued straight when entering a right curve in the road, the release said.

- California Highway Patrol are investigating a freeway shooting that happened Thursday evening on USA 101 in the area of Story Road in San Jose.

The boy remains at Regional Medical Center Friday afternoon for injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening.

Bailey said the crash happened on on State Route 94; However, CHP Officer Jake Sanchez reported the motorcyclist was heading westbound on Interstate 805 at the time of the crash. The lanes reopened several hours later.

The southbound lanes near the Sonoma County-Marin County line were blocked starting at about 6 a.m. and traffic was backed up 10 miles from San Antonio Road to East Washington Street in Petaluma, the CHP said.

It was the fifth shooting on the region's freeways in the last three weeks, and came a week after the deadly shooting of a 24-year-old man on Interstate 80 near Richmond. One person was hospitalized with moderate injuries, said CHP Officer Andrew Barclay.
