Legendary musician Chuck Berry dies at 90

In the wake of this news, you may be wondering, how did Berry die? Jagger said, "He lit up our teenage years, and blew life into our dreams of being musicians and performers". Berry returned the following week, bringing with him the other members of the trio, pianist Johnnie Johnson and drummer Eddie Hardy, and four new songs. Charlie Daniels, a fellow music legend, called Berry "The greatest rock and roll lyricist ever" and hoped he would "rest in peace". I've worked on this record for a long time. Among other big-screen Berry moments, Marty McFly (aka Michael J. Fox) gets into a little "Johnny B. Goode" action in 1985's "Back to the Future".

"Every night we try to pull one out that we haven't played since we were, I don't know, 16", Springsteen said.

Throughout his life, Berry had several run-ins with the law. In high school, he was arrested for armed robbery and spent three years in a reformatory, between 1944 and 1947.

The musician began performing with the Johnnie Johnson Trio in 1953, and his break came when he traveled to Chicago in May 1955 and met Muddy Waters.

During his lengthy career, Chuck changed the face of the music scene when he released "Maybellene", which swiftly became a huge hit.

"This record is dedicated to my beloved Toddy", Berry said in a press release, Toddy being Themetta Berry, whom he married 68 years ago, on October 28, 1948.

Despite his troubles with the law and the conditions of the times, Berry rose to the top of his profession.

"Chuck Berry merged blues & swing into the phenomenon of early rock "n" roll", tweeted The Jacksons.

Berry's death was confirmed by the St. Charles County Police Department, which wrote on its Facebook page that the legendary musician was found unresponsive in his home just before 1 p.m., and pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

- Lenny Kravitz: "Hail Hail Chuck Berry!".

"Chuck Berry was a rock and roll original".

"The main guy was Louis Jordan". The record had reportedly been in the works for years, according to a statement he gave to The Guardian, which said, "I'm growing old!" Berry was the real thing.

He was credited with developing rhythm and blues into the qualities that later defined rock and roll music, with hits such as "Johnny B. Goode", "Roll Over Beethoven" and "Rock And Roll Music".
