Listen to a preview of Serial's new podcast S-Town

The three-minute preview, introduced by Sarah Koenig, was released today, teasing a tantalising whodunit and revealing what the S in S-Town stands for. Foreshadowing much? This all ties into our first subject, the heavily twanged antique clock worker who contacts Reed, and asks him "to help solve a murder".

The makers of Serial and This American Life are teaming up to a launch a new podcast. Now an exciting teaser for the new series is offering us more clues about what to expect from the podcast. It's a scandal that's really made the Alabama town into a "shit town" (hence the name of the podcast, S-Town). "When someone else ends up dead, the search for the truth leads to a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man's life".

One key difference between Serial and S-Town, as alluded to in the tweets included here, is that all seven episodes will be released at once.

"The story has this feeling and mood that's different from anything else we've done", Ira Glass recently told Entertainment Weekly "I don't think people have heard a show like this". Will that prevent S-Town from becoming a cultural phenomenon like Serial was, with listeners talking about the latest episode, developing theories and speculating what might happen next?

Start working on your back story now, as you might be calling in sick to work on March 28.

The first series of Serial debuted in 2014, and investigated the 1999 murder of Hae Min Lee in Baltimore.
