Yogi Adityanath vows to work for all sections without discrimination

Modi, while noting that BJP had formed the government in four out of five states that went to the polls recently, said, "Our unwavering efforts to create a "Bhavya" (great) & "Divya" (brilliant) Bharat (India) continue".

While on the one hand, BJP seems to have made a reasonable choice with the reappointment of Manohar Parrikar as the Goa CM, the appointment of Yogi Adityanath as the CM (possibly to ensure the fulfilment of the Ramrajya dream) of Uttar Pradesh sets the party at least 20 steps back into the dark ages.

In 2015, Adityanath's comments yet again led to public outrage when he said that those who oppose "surya namaskar" are free to leave India.

Long-time RSS activist Trivendra Singh Rawat was on Friday elected the leader of the BJP Legislature Party and the next Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

The priest vociferously supports cow protection, opposes the eating of beef, which is considered unholy by Hindus, and has praised United States president Donald Trump's proposed travel ban on a group of Muslim-majority countries, saying India needed to emulate such an embargo. "We will ensure balanced development of UP".

"We want to assure the people of UP that our government will take the state on the path of development and prosperity and would do everything that it takes to do so", Yodi Adityanath said.

But Manish Tewari, senior leader at the Congress party, tweeted that Adityanath's appointment was a "harbinger to greater polarization".

"I have vast confidence that this new team will leave no stone unturned in making UP Uttam Pradesh".

Those criticizing #YogiAdityanath as Chief Minister of UP will be the ones appreciating him after Modi is done with his speech tomorrow.

Even as the elections in UP kicked off, Adityanath had made his chief ministerial ambitions clear to the top leadership, sources said.

The win has raised the prospect of Modi's re-election in general elections in 2019.

Governor Ram Naik administered the oath of office and secrecy to Yogi Adityanath, a Gorakhpur MP known for his hardline Hindutva views, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma as well as 44 ministers.
