Hot deal: Apple's iPhone SE at Rs. 19999 in India

However, retailers are now selling both the variants with Rs 5,000 cash back on purchase using a credit or debit card, taking the prices to a new low.

In case you don't know, the iPhone SE, where SE stands for iPhone Special Edition was first unveiled on March 21, 2016, at Apple HQ in Cupertino.

Apple intends to go bullish with its plans for India. Users should note that the Rs 5,000 cash back offer is not valid on debit cards of American Express.

The heavy price cut on iPhone SE has not yet been confirmed by the Apple authorities and the official price of the devices are still shown as Rs. 39,000 ($595) for the 16GB variant and Rs. 44,000 ($671) for the 64GB version. The 16GB iPhone SE had been going for between Rs. 27,000 and Rs. 29,000 recently, and now retailers are offering it for as low as Rs. 24,999, with the Rs. 5,000 cash back dropping the effective price to Rs. 19,999. Although the pricing varies from a retailer to retailer, it's clear that there is as much as Rs 10,000 price cut on the phone.

Though not officially announced by Apple, but offline retailers are selling the iPhone SE at Rs 19,999 for the 16 GB version and Rs 25,999 for the 64 GB version. The cashback offer is expected to be available till 31 March.

Cash back will be posted back to the card "within 90 days", and Gadgets 360 understands only one iPhone can be purchased per card under this offer. Similarly, the 64GB model of the iPhone SE, was sold for Rs 36,000.

One cannot get this cash back offer for EMI-based transactions and only one iPhone can be bought per card under this offer.

Apple shipped 2.5 million iPhones to India previous year, with a third coming in the December quarter, according to market researcher Counterpoint, which estimates that three-quarters of smartphones sold in India were made locally. Apple iPhone SE is powered by A9 processor and 12MP iSight camera, which includes Apple's dual-tone flash and the ability to shoot 4K videos. There's also a 1.2-megapixel camera on the front of the iPhone SE. The metal-clad iPhone SE has a large battery that Apple claims will offer up to 14 hours of talk-time.
