Who will take charge after Arsene Wenger?

West Brom stunned Arsenal with a 3-1 win on Saturday, with Wenger's men subsequently dropping to sixth in the Premier League after Manchester United's win at Middlesbrough. A compromise of a 12-month extension has been explored, but this would be a rolling contract.

For the first time in the XXI century, Arsenal are risking not to qualify for the Champions League. "It's not the last result that will decide what I will do", he said.

The newspaper claims that while the decision is not Wenger's alone to make - the club must also make the decision to trust him with another two-year deal - missing out on Champions League football for the first time in nearly 20 years would no longer necessarily be the deal breaker it was assumed to be previously.

Asked whether some supporters' actions in urging him to quit were disrespectful towards a manager who has brought nine major trophies to the club, including three Premier League titles, Wenger said: "I don't know". It's more... it's not that.

"That's the worst Arsenal performance I've seen in a long, long time".

Fans chartered an aeroplane to fly over the Hawthorns trailing a banner calling for Wenger's resignation, a move which has followed a noticeable increase in the number of "Wenger Out" banners being held up at games.

A second plane was also hired to encourage trust in Wenger, but it all represents an undignified conclusion to the season. After the loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League (2-10 on aggregate), the fans started to boycott the games of their team and appeal to Wenger to quit the club.

Everybody in life is responsible for his own behaviour. I don't judge other people.

One quick perusal of Twitter will tell you everything you need to know about the reaction to suggestions that Wenger is actually going nowhere.

According to the Daily Mirror, Wenger has told the board he wants to stay at the club.

"I'm somewhat overwhelmed at the tens of thousands of impressions and retweets of the last 24 hours", Moores said.
