Body of doctor who jumped into Lagoon not yet found, search continues

Vanguard gathered that the medical practitioner, who was without a life-jacket, jumped into the lagoon at about 4: 30 pm.

The source added that "when he got to the Third Mainland Bridge, he stopped the vehicle, came out and jumped into the lagoon".

Twenty-four hours after a medical doctor, simply identified as Orji jumped into the Lagoon from Third Mainland Bridge, emergency responders have continued to comb the Lagoon in search of the doctor's body to no avail.

Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA and the police are now at the scene to retrieve the body of the victim.

Ita, who was taken to the Adeniji Adele Police station, said the deceased had told him that he wanted to ease himself.

As at 7p.m., operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and the Marine Police Unit were still battling to rescue him.

Confirming the incident, the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, said proper investigation would be conducted on the incident by the appropriate authorities.

The man, who was reportedly driven to the spot by a driver, jumped into the Lagoon via the Third Mainland bridge.

"The driver parked the vehicle, the doctor came down and immediately jumped into the Lagoon", witnesses said.

She said she chose to harken to the call because it was repeated.
