Charges pending against Dixon student after report of gun on school property

Hennepin County prosecutors on Friday deferred charges against an undocumented 42-year-old man who allegedly evaded Champlin Park High School security to have sex with a 19-year-old special-needs student in the school.

As a result, the suspect was due to be released from jail Friday afternoon.

Today an adult male came into Champlin Park High School with the intent of meeting a student.

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement official said the agency is aware of his status and plans to take him into custody.

Prosecutors made a decision to defer charges to allow more time for police investigation on the case, according to a spokesman for the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

Ryan's parents brought him to the Dixon Police Department at 11:40 Friday morning, Police Chief Danny Langloss said. The two separated for a short time, then met up again in the same bathroom. "The question is if that student had the mental capacity to willingly consent to the act".

Brooklyn Park police learned the man was undocumented while he was initially booked in jail, Deputy Chief Mark Bruley said.

School district officials say they're increasing security in light of the incident.

Bruley said an initial sexual encounter occurred before the pair left the restroom.

Authorities say the suspect has a Washington driver's license, and apparently moves around the country on a regular basis.

"By having a police officer in the school who knows the kids and has multiple sources of information, we were able to locate this student immediately".
