LSU to hire VCU's Will Wade as head coach, according to report

Wade has a 91-45 overall record in four years as a head coach at the tender young (younger than yours truly by about 10 months) age of 34.

LSU confirmed the hire with a tweet from its official basketball account.

Wade spent the past two seasons as the Rams' head coach, having taken over in place of Shaka Smart, who left the school for Texas.

Wade won 51 games in his two years at VCU, while winning The Atlantic Ten regular season championship last year and coming in second this year.

The move comes only days after the Rams were bounced from the NCAA Tournament by Saint Mary's.

LSU is expected to pay Wade $2 million a year in a six-year contract. LSU will be Wade's third job since becoming a head coach at the start of the 2013-14 season. As a result, they fired former head coach Johnny Jones at the end of the season. He was making $1.4 million a year at VCU.

Sources confirm Will Wade has accepted an offer to become the next #LSU men's basketball coach. Coverage of LSU and commentary by Guilbeau supported by Hebert's Town & Country Automobile Dealer in Shreveport located at 1155 East Bert Kouns Loop.
