Puerto Rico vs. Netherlands 2017 World Baseball Classic live stream

As Friday night crept into Saturday morning, Puerto Rico held on for dear life to beat the United States 6-5, clinching a spot in the final round of the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

The victory means the USA will play Japan in a semi-final at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Tuesday, with Puerto Rico and the Netherlands in the other last-four clash at the same venue on Monday.

Puerto Rico led 6-3 after scoring two unearned runs on two-out throwing error by four-time Gold Glove victor Nolan Armando in a hitless sixth-inning rally that featured a hit batter, a walk and three stolen bases, two by Baez.

Puerto Rico, the first team to score runs off USA's starting rotation this tournament, could have really blown the game open were it not for two baserunning gaffes in the first two innings. Now that we're out of pool play, we don't have to worry about the complicated tiebreaking process.

Two-time victor Japan and the Netherlands already have qualified.

That potential pop means the Americans suddenly become far scarier as a semifinal matchup with Japan looms Tuesday at Dodger Stadium.

According to Statcast, Stanton's two-run home run was the fourth hardest hit homer since it began measuring the exit velocity.

With dueling support for both independence and statehood among the island's inhabitants, tensions over Puerto Rico's colonial status have been bubbling over, as it faces a debt crisis bigger than any before.

Stanton got the US on the board in the second inning after hitting a weak single, going first to third on a single by Lucroy, then scoring on a groundout. The Dominican Republic's quest to repeat as champion ends with its second-round elimination.

Duffy will try to lead the U.S.to the WBC semi-finals, but he and his fellow American teammates will have to get by a tough opponent in the Dominican Republic tonight. Any game between the USA and the Dominican Republic is the WBC's marquee matchup, featuring the two most major-league heavy rosters in the tournament.

Baez singled to load the bases before Eddie Rosario's sacrifice fly to left field made it 4-0. Nelson Figueroa pitched six scoreless innings and J.C.Romero pitched out of a bases-loaded situation in the eighth inning of a 4-3 victory, eliminating the U.S. Puerto Rico advanced to the final round and lost to the Dominican Republic in the final game. That led pitcher Hector Santiago to wonder whether the USA players would welcome a merger with Puerto Rico. The respective scheduled starts are 9 p.m. When Team USA manager Jim Leyland released his lineup, his best hitter (Paul Goldschmidt) and best catcher (Buster Posey) were both on the bench.

Seth Lugo earned the victory for Puerto Rico for 5 2/3 innings of work in which he surrendered three runs and five hits. "After every game we play, the confidence keeps improving".

"I'm still in awe of that catch", Jones said in an on-field interview, before quickly praising his team's pitchers for keeping the Dominican batters in check. And they hit very well. His mother, Adlin Auffant, is Puerto Rican.

"It's a sense of pride to play for Puerto Rico, " says Aviles, an infielder for the Cleveland Indians.
