Rhode Island almost scrapped and hustled its way into the next round, with Stanford Robinson matching his career high of 21 points as the Rams (25-10) had their nine-game winning streak snapped to end the season.

According to Pomeroy's college basketball ratings, one of the best indicators of future wins heading into the tournament, OR is less than one point per 100 possessions better than MI, the lowest difference among any of the upcoming Sweet 16 matchups, giving the Ducks just a 52 percent chance at moving on to the Elite Eight.

"I never get anxious". Rhode Island responded with a mini-surge of its own, but Dorsey responded, first with a game-tying 3-pointer after a pair of Jordan Bell offensive rebounds and then with his ice-cold game victor.

Dorsey scored 27 points for OR (31-5), which will face seventh-seeded MI on Thursday in Kansas City, Mo.

"He was just confident in the bunch that was in", Brooks said. "He's a good coach and he knows what he is doing".

"That defense we faced is as good as any defense we faced all year", OR coach Dana Altman said.

Dorsey will get the attention, as he should, but it was Bell who grabbed the offensive rebounds that led to the crucial Dorsey game-tying and game-winning three. "I got used to the game and the speed". "I see they don't notice [Dorsey] in the corner, I faked a drive and just kicked to him and let him do what he do", Bell said.

At halftime, Altman reportedly kicked out the CBS camera crew and addressed his team on the lack of intensity and harped too many turnover numbers.

"An awesome season for us, conference champions, the run we've been on, the heart we showed today and the high level of play", Hurley said.

On the season, Rhode Island basketball is averaging 73.5 points, 37.5 rebounds and 13.5 assists per game. Pritchard, Dorsey and Ennis all had three going into halftime.

"In practice during the week, coach got me in that role and told me to be ready whenever they called for me if we needed a boost", Smith said. However, in the second round, they were put to the test. "I thought for a while he locked in on his offense and we weren't getting him the ball enough for a period in the season and that was my fault".

The Oregon Ducks are set to face MI out of the Big Ten Conference on Thursday. This is their third trip to the third round in five years after making it in 2013.
