Arrest warrant issued for Kejriwal for Tweeting over educational qualification

The Counsel of the Chief Minister, even filed a petition, seeking more time for him to appear, to which the court refused and issued a bailable warrant against him. A Diphu court had summoned Kejriwal in the criminal defamation case filed against him by Assam BJP leader Surya Rongphar over his tweet on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's educational qualifications, NDTV reported. He has also been indicted by the Shunglu Committee, as a result of which the AAP has lost its party headquarters in New Delhi.

The court had said, "On perusal of records, it reveals that the accused (Kejriwal) has not appeared before the court on the earlier occasion on January 30, too, availing adjournment for two months". The case in the first place was filed by BJP leader Surya Rongphar against Kejriwal previous year in December for passing defamation comments on Narendra Modi.

Last year, the Delhi University's registrar said that the Prime Minister's degree was authentic and he "cleared the examination in 1978 and was awarded the degree in 1979".

"Why is Modi so secretive about his educational qualification?"

Kejriwal waded into trouble after tweeting that "Modiji 12 pass hain. Obviously he has lied to the People about his education". "Uske baad ki degree farzi hai", Kejriwal had tweeted.

"We have seen the petition submitted by Gurpreet Singh Uppal showing the ground that it is not possible for the accused, namely Arvind Kejriwal, to leave Delhi due to the municipality election in Delhi", Justice Naba Kumar Deka Barua of Diphu Court said in the order.

Singh on Tuesday took to his Twitter handle and asked if it's a crime for asking about the educational background of the prime minister. The Prime Minister's Office has rejected all the claims.
