Cubs to celebrate World Series with gold uniforms, commemorative gear

Since winning it all, the Cubs have celebrated their World Series victory at a parade, the Cubs Convention, the White House and Monday's banner-raising ceremony.

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Chicago Cubs in the National League playoffs late in the 2016 season and will be looking for some payback during this series at Wrigley.

Quite a night for the All-Star slugger. When they re-emerged, Rizzo led the way with the golden World Series trophy held aloft. "So I believe that we earned it - it's going to be a great day".

Pinch-hitter Jon Jay started the decisive rally with a leadoff single against Sergio Romo (0-1).

Corey Sager, he did go 1-4 with an RBI. They squandered a six-run lead in the ninth inning of a 10-9 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. It's been a long time coming. A crowd of 41,166 that must have sat through parts of the 108-year drought waited out a rain delay that would last nearly two hours before first pitch. The current Cubs all took turns pulling on the rope to send the flag to the top of the pole. Rizzo then emerged from under the bleachers with the championship trophy, drawing another big ovation. If you weren't sold on a pair of Wrigley Field seats that went on sale earlier this year, there's a new piece of Cubs memorabilia that will have you rounding the bases and emptying your savings.

The pregame celebration was as emotional and loud as anyone would have expected, after more than a century of frustration. Alex Wood, subbing for injured left-hander Rich Hill, lasted just 3 2/3 innings in his first start of the season.

Dodgers: LF Franklin Gutierrez exited with a left hamstring injury. Russell's throw bounced wildly past first, allowing Forsythe to trot home with the tying run as midnight approached. Now since I don't want you guys to think I'm a Debbie Downer about all things Willson Contreras check out this strike em throw him out executed to perfection between Willson and Javy. "It might have been a charley horse or something like that".

Clayton Kershaw surrendered back-to-back homers for the first time in his career, with Mark Reynolds and Gerardo Parra taking him deep in the sixth as the Colorado Rockies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 on.

The Dodgers loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh inning against reliever Carl Edwards Jr.

It wasn't a routine play, not even close, but he made it look like that, covering what looked like a quarter of the outfield to run down a foul ball by Kyle Schwarber. "That hurts, for sure". However, rain prolonged the festivities, so the Cubs' players watched their former teammate, David Ross, on Dancing With The Stars during the hour-long delay.

The Chicago Cubs have picked up where they left off last season, jumping out to a 5-2 straight-up start to the 2017 season.
