Ice cream-eating squirrel - nicknamed Putter - amazes North Carolina beach-goers

Most of the time the squirrel declines and runs away, but in the case of Putter, all you need is some ice cream for some attention.

If you're ever passing through Holden Beach, North Carolina, you might want to check out an ice cream parlor that has a little visitor every day who gets its own little cone.

The ice cream shop owners added that their furry friend first appeared last summer and hasn't left their side since.

"You call her name, and she literally will come out of her nest in one of these big trees and hop her way down to the roof, ultimately to the rail and waits on her cone", Scott Martin told local ABC affiliate WWAY.

Fantasy have also shared several photos of the squirrel's visits - check out the tiny plastic bag of cones they have hanging up especially for Putter because she's that much of a VIP.

The Martins said Putter has become a popular attraction for the ice cream shop, as the community has embraced the ice cream-eating squirrel.

Customers are taking notice, too.

"One of the first things people as for 'is Putter here?'" Pam, Scott's wife, told WWAY.

The Martins say their customers regularly ask for updates on Putter's whereabouts. "We give her a little treat twice a day - that's probably enough". She's very tolerant of us.
