Boxer Adrien Broner arrested on warrant in Cincinnati area

Cincinnati police said they had received several reports shortly before Broner was pulled over of shots fired from residents in the area of West McMillan Street and West McMillan Avenue.

Covington police arrested Broner due to an outstanding warrant for operating a vehicle under the influence.

The 27-year-old Cincinnati native was released from jail on $503 bond less than four hours after being booked.

Broner is set to appear in court April 27 in relation to Thursday's arrest.

Broner was found behind the wheel of the rented Suburban. He told police an unknown suspect followed him from the G'Moni's Bar on Queen City Avenue.

Broner was charged in December 2014 with alcohol intoxication in a public place and disorderly conduct, court records show.

According to police, Broner told them someone shot at the auto after following him from a bar in Cincinnati. Cops later found evidence of a shooting at the alleged crime scene, including several shell casings.

This is the latest encounter with police for Broner.

Broner was recently on trial for felony assault and robbery charges, all of which were dropped.

A split decision win over Adrian Granados in February represents the last time Broner took part in a professional bout, having lost his super-lightweight title on the scales ten months earlier.
