Easter Sunday: marking the triumph of good over evil

Easter Sunday: marking the triumph of good over evil

Governor P.Sadasivam said that the resurrection of Jesus Christ inspire us to serve the weak and the downtrodden in a spirit of love and oneness.

Families go to church, meet relatives and enjoy with their families on Easter Sunday.

I believe that as we remember with great thanks Christ's resurrection from the dead, this is something that we can be thankful for every day as we see a new day dawn and give witness to the wonder of God's creation in our lives.

"As Christians, we believe that Jesus has risen and our journey with our Lord has been renewed and therefore, it is important for us to forgive and forget all those that may have hurt us and seek forgiveness from all those that we might have hurt", he said.

"On Easter Sunday, we have an increase, maybe a 40-50 percent increase over typical Sunday".

I realize that even as I write this there are people who feel hopeless, who don't feel God's love in the midst of their troubled lives. "Same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead will raise our hopes and restore our dreams ... and may this Easter usher in a true genuine change in our leaders and the followers in Jesus mighty name". Rather than the limerick-priest subsisting exclusively on yeast, let us be yeast so that we celebrate Easter not just today, but everyday. "He [Christ] gave his life for humanity and for sinners, which is why we celebrate his resurrection", he added.

The confectionary section of New Market wore a busy look since morning with people out there to purchase Easter num noms like Easter eggs, mud pies and cakes. "Because of this resurrection, we can have life instead of death; vitality instead of lack of energy; hope instead of despair and victory instead of defeat".

How blessed we are to know that and to be able to celebrate the fact that even when the world seemed to have given up on Jesus, God reminded them in a powerful way that indeed He is in control.

Christians around the world celebrated Easter on Sunday, as Pope Francis and others expressed concern over embattled communities in the cradle of the faith following church bombings in Egypt and attacks on civilians in Syria's civil war.
