Sathyaraj still Silent: Rajamouli fails to Convince Kannadas

"Baahubali: The Conclusion", also starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah and Anushka Shetty, is slated to be released on April 28 worldwide.

The serial protester has garnered the support of pro-Kannada groups and has made several speeches outside the Karnataka Film Chamber office in Bengaluru, calling for all Kannadigas to come together and demand an apology from "anti-Kannada Sathyaraj for insulting the people of the state" - Sathyaraj, a Tamilian who plays Kaatappa in Baahubali, had reportedly called Kannadigas "dogs" during the Cauvery protests a few years ago.

SS Rajamouli implores the pro-Kannada organisations to not involve them in this issue as the filmmakers in are in no way connected to it.

"Other films of Sathyaraj which were released earlier here weren't worthy and noticeable. We have a problem with actor Sathyaraj", said Sa Ra Govind had said on Wednesday.

President of the Karanataka Rakshnana Vedike slammed the "Baahubali" makers saying, "Why are directors pleading with the film chamber and senior actors in Karnataka?"

Addressing Kannada movie lovers in Kannada, Rajamouli said, "I'm thankful to all of you for your support right from my debut film "Student No.1".to the last "Baahubali: The Beginning". We were not aware of this issue until a month ago till we saw a video on social media. "We want a public apology from Sathyaraj, only then will the film be allowed to release in Karnataka". Some videos were posted on the internet.

As of Thursday, the protest against the release of Baahubali 2 continues in the city. He says that Sathyaraj's alleged comments were not an issue all these years, and that several of the actor's films including Baahubali have released in the state in the past. If this movie doesn't release as planned in Karnataka, he has nothing to lose. No one had problems with that. The Baahubali team and I wanted to issue a clarification about the Sathyaraj controversy. The film is not produced by Sathyaraj. He is just a supporting actor. He took his remuneration for it.

Asked what he has been hearing from director SS Rajamouli about the film's release, Assistant Director Srinivas Rao said the director will accept Yaralagadda's decision. So whatever people do against Baahubali 2 will not affect him in any manner.
