Green said on a December 2015 casino trip they took together, Stephens emptied his banking account, waited overnight until more money became available and went back inside, only to lose more cash.

Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police pursued him for under a mile before the suspect shot and killed himself, according to Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams. "If you did it, you have to face your crime", she said. He then shot him, forever linking Lane and the victim's family. She said the chase slowed suddenly from 50 miles per hour to about 20 miles per hour when the road narrowed from four lanes to two.One of the pursuing troopers picked his spot - in front of an abandoned school - and hit Stephens' bumper to get him to stop.

In an interview with CNN, several of Godwin's children said they held no animosity toward Stephens, either.

"I could not do that if I did not know God, if I didn't know him as my God and my savior, I could not forgive that man", she said.

"I feel bad. The last thing that he would have said was my name and didn't know me or why he was saying it".

Police said he shot himself dead after a dramatic chase which was sparked after he was recognised by a restaurant worker while trying to buy food yesterday.

State police caught up to Stephens quickly and gave chase.

The statement goes on to say that work continues to fill in the gaps between the time of the Cleveland shooting Easter Sunday and the apparent suicide late Tuesday morning.

But Godwin's daughters, Tonya R. Godwin-Baines and Debbie D. Godwin, wanted to reassure Lane that Stephens' actions were not her fault and that she shouldn't blame herself.

The manhunt for the suspect accused of killing a person and airing it on Facebook Live is over, thanks in part to a McDonald's drive thru team in Harborcreek, Pennsylvania.

"I'm sorry it ended the way it did", said Maggie Green.
