April the giraffe's fans smash YouTube viewing records

YouTube says April's livestream had more than 232 million live views and 7.6 billion minutes of live watch time since February, second only to League of Legends eSports, which has been around since 2012.

April's calf is the first one for Animal Adventure Park. The calf weighs 129 pounds and is 5-feet-9.

"April has recovered perfectly and is eating everything in sight!"

April the giraffe gives birth to a baby boy in a NY zoo, as millions tune in by a live webcam stream in anticipation of the event. "Nursing strongly this morning without any concerns".

The zoo is in Harpursville, New York, about 209 km northwest of New York City. April's almost 16-month pregnancy culminated this Saturday, when she gave birth to her calf after being in labor for two hours.

Mother, April, has also been described by the park's owner Jordan Patch as being "very protective and encouraging" of her calf. Mom and baby had a great day!

Patch said the natural curiosity surrounding giraffes and their birthing process was a huge factor in drawing crowds. In this photo provided by Animal Adventure Park in Binghamton, N.Y., a giraffe named April kisses her new calf on Saturday, April 15, 2017.

April's zookeepers wrote in a Facebook update: "Yesterday many of you noticed the "giraffe cha-cha" where April was trying to step on the toes of our vet, and more or less she was telling him she was done with his advances".

When it comes to Oliver's baby mommy, this 15-year-old expert (this is her fourth baby) showed no hesitation in nuzzling and protecting her newborn calf.

A Farmington, New Hampshire, songwriter even posted a music video on YouTube called, "I'm Going Crazy Waiting (For A Giraffe)".

The zoo began streaming live footage of April's pen on February 10, but the feed was briefly banned from YouTube for "nudity and sexual content" two weeks later. It is now closed and will open to the public in mid-May. The money will be used for the care of the animals.

"For about 10 days, you can vote on any name or names you choose for April's new calf", according to the website. The calf was born hooves-first, followed by its snout.
