EPA chief delays methane rule at behest of oil and gas firms

"Administrator Pruitt was working for environmental justice by meeting with the real residents affected by lead contamination and by committing to get results". Abigail Dillen of said the plan is simply getting rid of "the health and environmental protections we all rely on-protections only the government can provide". Pruitt and his contemporaries have recently doubled-down on their anti-scientific claptrap. Despite thousands of protesters and a temporary stay, the pipeline began transporting oil at the end of last month. He then briefly addressed the media but took no questions, saying that the meeting had covered "concrete" steps to be taken to address the city's lead issues in an "efficient and effective way".

Really, Scott Pruitt? Western Pennsylvanians know enough to recognize when you are blowing (coal) dust when you declare that "the war on coal is done" ("EPA's Pruitt Says He'll Be a Friend to Coal", April 14).

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt entered the fire during his Wednesday visit to the Chicago region as he sought to calm anger over proposed EPA budget cuts, including the defunding of the agency's Office of Environmental Justice, and how those cuts would affect clean-up efforts at a Superfund site in East Chicago, Indiana. Joe Donnelly and Todd Young, and East Chicago's mayor for closed-door meetings in an industrial corridor of in roughly 25 miles from downtown Chicago.

The NAACP released a set of demands on Wednesday that included an expedited groundwater study at the Superfund site and a commitment to obtain community input in the decision-making process.

They are anxious Pruitt won't do enough to eradicate the problem because he and President Trump want to roll back environmental regulations. The site includes part of the former USS Lead facility along with nearby commercial, municipal and residential areas, including the West Calumet public housing complex. Trump administration's proposed budget for fiscal year 2018 would cut EPA funding 31 percent, the biggest planned cut for any federal agency. Housing officials said their goal is to move out all families by May.

Resident Demetra Turner, 44, who left Chicago a decade ago for public housing in IN, said she was trying to find safe housing for the two children who live with her. The EPA workers union wants a separate meeting with Pruitt. The land we walk upon is contaminated.

The agenda reinforces Pruitt's pledge to refocus EPA on its intended mission, returning power to the states, and creating an environment where jobs can grow.
