Minecraft Update Will Soon Be Available for Nintendo Switch

It has just been announced that Payday 2 will be ported to Nintendo Switch. That's the first instance we can recall where a piece of software has a reported attach rate that's actually higher than 100 percent. To date, 925,000 units of Zelda Breath of the Wild has been sold by different retailers. We still don't have worldwide sales numbers for the console, but Nintendo promised to provide those during its April 27 fiscal earnings report.

That's not all, as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has become a huge seller in its own right, with over 1.3 million units sold.

While "Breath of the Wild" has sold more copies than the Nintendo Switch, it does not mean that the console did not sell well.

To put those sales in context: Nintendo said the Wii U sold 13.56 million units worldwide between its November 2012 launch and December 2016; nearly 1 million Switch units have been sold in its first month of availability within the USA alone. NPD's data accounts only for US sales, but the current global estimate puts March Switch totals at 2.4 million consoles sold. The main sales driver was the highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which reportedly sold 920,000 units just for the Switch, which gave the game and awesome attach rate of more than 100%.

Beyond that, PS4 sold more than Xbox One during the same month. This makes the Nintendo Switch the company's fastest-selling video game system of all time.

It is possible that the bulk of the Switch games will be created for the Nintendo Switch, with games specifically made for the console. Then again, 460,000 people in the USA picked up a copy of Breath of the Wild for the Wii U, which seems like a better move if you simply can't wait for Switch hardware.

To that point, "Breath of the Wild" was also a sales monster. Of those, almost 460,000 units were sold for the Wii U and over 925,000 were for the Switch.
