Three-run blast by Pujols helps Angels over Astros

Andrew Triggs allowed three hits over six innings to outpitch Yu Darvish, and the Oakland Athletics beat the Texas Rangers 4-2 on Tuesday night.

Shoemaker hasn't made it through 6 innings in any of his three starts in 2017, though he limited the damage to only 2 runs in two of his three outings (he gave up 6 ER over 4.1 IP against Seattle in his worst outing of 2017).

But it was Andrelton Simmons who got the Angels on the board first with his homer in the second inning.

"He pitched a great game", Angels manager Mike Scioscia said.

The Angels will be bringing out RHP JC Ramirez on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Angels never lost faith in a lineup featuring Mike Trout and Albert Pujols. "It's easy when McCann puts down some quality fingers and makes me look better than I am". "Especially knowing with the way the offseason went with trade (speculation) and the talk about (White Sox left-hander Jose) Quintana coming over, it means a lot to me and to a lot of the other starters that they had confidence and faith in us that we were the best guys to get the job done and they kept us around Houston". He's gone 10 for 34 after getting just one hit in his first 20 at-bats this season.

"I felt like I threw the ball well tonight", he said. Any time you get behind Dallas, you know it's going to be a really good game and a close game.

Shortstop Carlos Correa will not be in the Houston Astros' lineup Monday night against the Los Angeles Angels because of a bruised right hand. Correa took batting practice and fielded ground balls prior to Wednesday's game.

Bud Norris pitched a scoreless seventh in his first appearance at Minute Maid Park since being traded by the Astros in 2013.

Morton (1-1) worked in and out of trouble over five innings, allowing five hits and two walks with three strikeouts. "There's still a lot of games to play so I still want to be able to be able to play most of the game".

As Trout walked away, the fans started laughing hysterically as Orbit had pinned a "I ❤️ THE ASTROS" sign on the back of Trout's jersey.

Manager AJ Hinch reiterated Tuesday that Correa (hand) is truly day-to-day, MLB Network Radio reports.

Angels: Alex Meyer will be recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday to make his first start of the season when the Angels open a four-game series against Toronto. "Today is a big day for him to get into baseball again".
