Congress wants to 'hear from' Comey about bombshell report

The fundamental question, always, when it comes to President Donald Trump is this: Is he following a grand plan that only he can see or is he just saying and doing things with no broader blueprint in mind?

Amash tweeted Tuesday night that the allegations in the memo are "incredibly serious" and require Comey to testify in front of the House.

According to the Times story, which has now been confirmed by several other outlets, Comey's memos allege that the president once asked him to halt his investigation into Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser and campaign staffer who is suspected to have close ties with Russian Federation.

Before speaking with reporters, Ryan told rank-and-file Republicans in a closed-door meeting that he supported the ongoing House and Senate Intelligence panels' investigations into Russian Federation hacking, as well as a third being carried out by the FBI. Asked what he thinks of the Trump presidency, Putin said it's up to the American people to judge and his performance can be rated "only when he's allowed to work at full capacity", implying that someone is hampering Trump's efforts.

"If in fact what was in the memo is true, it's very concerning and we need to get to the bottom of that", Kinzinger said on CNN.

"We can't deal with speculation and innuendo and there's clearly a lot of politics being played", the Wisconsin Republican said after meeting with his colleagues.

The House Oversight Committee did not immediately respond to a question from Breitbart News asking why only those Comey documents relating to Trump are being sought.

Democratic politicians have been making the case for impeachment across the mainstream media ever since Trump's interview last week with NBC News's Lester Holt, when he said the decision to fire the Federal Bureau of Investigation director was his alone and that he was considering "the Russian Federation thing" when he handed down the dismissal directive via a letter delivered by the president's longtime security guard. This is about what I believe.

Representative Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, which is among those probing alleged Russian interference in the 2016 United States election, called Putin's offer "quite amusing".

He replied, "I do".

"Let's get to the bottom of what happened with the director. I'm not going to take a memo, I want the guy to come in", said Sen. After the news broke of the Comey memo, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., stood in the chamber and said, "I say to all of my colleagues in the Senate - history is watching".

The newspaper said Comey was in the Oval Office that day with other national security officials for a terrorism threat briefing.
