Manchester United to land Oblak if De Gea leaves for Real Madrid

Jan Oblak reportedly has a £85m buyout clause in his contract with Atletico Madrid.

But despite Mourinho's public assertion that De Gea will remain at Old Trafford, concern over the Spaniard's intentions have now prompted United to intensify their monitoring of Oblak, with the club increasing their scouting trips to the Vicente Calderon to watch the 24-year-old.

Indeed, the Slovenian is one of the few goalkeepers on a similar level to the Spaniard, and, as such, his arrival to replace De Gea would ensure a smooth transition.

United fear David De Gea will finally join Real Madrid this summer and the Spanish worldwide won't play again this season having already been left out of their last two games.

Romero has already been told he is playing in next Wednesday's final having started 11 of United's 14 Europa League ties on the way to the Stockholm showdown with Ajax. Sergio Romero has been great and I think he is a very good worldwide goalkeeper and he has to stay.

I would want, at the very least, United's best player for at least two of the last three seasons sitting beside me in case I needed him.

With Atletli, he has garnered experience at an even higher level and played in last year's UEFA Champions League final.

That would leave a huge void to fill between the sticks as De Gea has been outstanding for United in recent years and it looks like the Manchester giants are ready to go back to his former club to find a replacement.
