Rampant Madrid on cusp of ending title drought

Rampant Madrid on cusp of ending title drought

The Frenchman is hoping to lead Madrid to a La Liga and Champions League double after also guiding them to the final against Juventus on 3 June in Cardiff.

Cristiano Ronaldo saluted Zinedine Zidane for his management of the Real Madrid squad this season as they closed to within a point of the La Liga league title with a 4-1 win at Celta Vigo.

"We know that Malaga are strong at home, but we have to go there and win".

Cristiano Ronaldo's brace helped them to a 4-1 win away to Celta Vigo leaving Los Blancos' fate in their own hands going into the final day. We played very well today, but we showed we are in good form and feeling confident.

"Whenever I go home it is a really special occasion, and this time we have got a chance to clinch the league title, which is something I have never won".

Madrid's iconic No.7 scored his second three minutes into the second-half, beating the offside trap to latch onto Isco's pass before finishing with his weaker foot to double the league leaders' lead.

"Misses aren't normal for me, but I'm human and I can miss sometimes".

Giving the astounding regularity with which he has scored crucial goals in these last few weeks, it appears CR7 was just waiting for the most momentous time to put his mercurial talents to use. Ronaldo: 367 goals, 460 games.

Madrid has been dominant from the start of the season, being in front for most of the league.

"Nobody feels like champions, we have to continue until the last minute of the last game". "We have been at this for nine months, with some difficulties at times, against very good rivals".

Goal difference would only have come in to play had the two sides' aggregate head-to-head scores been level.

A win or a draw in the match postponed from February because of bad weather will move Madrid past Barcelona into first place going into the weekend's final round of matches.
