Weather Forecast: Weekend rain and thunderstorm chances

This resulted in some trees being uprooted near Eagle Mountain Lake.

Friday will start off dry. Another area of rain will move in later Tuesday with much cooler weather expected for a good part of next week with highs in the 70's for a few days. They shouldn't dampen any early weekend plans, as drier skies prevail. We don't see one day over the next 7-10 that will even touch that seasonal standard. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Winds will filter in from the south at 10-15 miles per hour. This shouldn't be an all day steady rain, but we could have a couple of periods of rain and thunder. The risk for severe weather is moderate along a line from Clinton to Ponca City, the weather service reports. Low: 69. SSE 15-20 miles per hour.

Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy with 20 percent chance of thunderstorms. Low: 66. High: 77. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 9 miles per hour in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59.

MONDAY: Partly cloudy and warm. The sunshine returns briefly Monday afternoon with highs around 80°. West wind 6 to 9 miles per hour. Saturday night, a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Southeast wind 5 to 9 miles per hour. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72.

The wind will also chop up the ocean with seas generally in the 3 to 5-feet range.

The change in the forecast will begin to arrive over the weekend with showers and thunderstorms becoming slightly more widespread especially in the afternoon and evening.
