Smart speaker with 7-inch touchscreen announced

According to Amazon's Echo Show product page, the $230 United States dollars device features all of the hands-free voice-activated features of Alexa, as well as a 7-inch touchscreen that displays photos, YouTube videos, weather forecasts, music lyrics and more.

As per usual with most Echo devices, you can also use it to control various features of your home, like the thermostat, lights, and other compatible smart home devices such as WeMo, Philips Hue, and ecobee.

With the 7-inch screen, users can video chat with family and friends and pull up photos, YouTube videos, song lyrics and shopping lists. The Echo Show will be shipping only in the U.S. from June 28. Which are now integrated into the Echo Show.

It means users can ask Alexa to "display a live feed from a particular room in the house, with the images popping up directly on the Echo Show's screen". You can do video calling with anyone through its front camera. Whether or not the device is aesthetically pleasing will ultimately come down to personal preference but there's no denying that adding a display and video capabilities to Echo feels like a natural progression of the product line.

The most important part of the Echo Show is the video and voice calls. The company then followed it by introducing the smaller Amazon Echo Dot, called the Echo Tap. It has eight microphones, so that it never misses your voice commands. Google Home is second, and many other tech giants are getting interested in offering a similar device.

How do I use Amazon Alexa calling and messaging?

Echo Show is slated for release on June 28, available for pre-order starting today. It's a great way to keep in touch with grandma and grandpa, because they can see you on a bigger screen, and turn on the closed captioning.
