West Ham enter talks to potentially seal transfer deal for Championship star

The West Ham manager today confirmed that the club had exercised the option to hand Adrian a two year extension that will keep the goalkeeper at the London Stadium until 2019. He's had an operation and he will be ok in ten weeks and will be ready for the new season.

"He played a couple of games in the pre-season when we went to the States and we were missing a few players".

"Take our last game against Liverpool. It was always 50:50 but he feels it and he has not trained for a while now".

Bilic has told reporters that West Ham want to keep Adrian at the club and that they have chose to renew terms with the veteran goalkeeper.

The Spanish right-back was signed on a one-year deal last summer from Real Madrid but has had a torrid campaign for West Ham, playing only four times.

Bilic added: "Winston is good". "We have good vocal leaders on our team and we also have a good core of British players who are leaders plus some foreigners who are skippers in their teams".

"The worse thing for the team and the manager is this kind of situation, that you are counting on a player and then suddenly he's not available for a lot of games".

However, one man that is out of contract and looks set to leave the Premier League side is Alvaro Arbeloa.

This week they will be able to play with a lot more freedom and that might allow us to see what this team really has to offer in the Premier League next season. West Ham now have got nothing to play for, they used their cup final the other week against Tottenham. We were without eight players but still had a decent team so that shows that squad-wise, with the quantity of the players, we are okay.

"Declan is very good for his age".
