"She's entitled to a verdict in this case". It is not yet clear why jurors could not reach a verdict, or how close they came.

Meanwhile, Montgomery County DA Kevin Steele has already said he will retry Cosby for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in 2004.

The jury of seven men and five women reviewed the case for more than 50 hours over a six-day period.

The Constand case savaged Cosby's reputation.

Cosby's team declared victory, however temporary. She also criticized the judge, the accuser's lawyers and the media.

"How do I describe the district attorney? Overtly arrogant, collaborating with the district attorney", said her statement, which was read by Wyatt and tweeted by her husband. She speculated the jurors may be unable to reconcile Cosby's TV dad, Dr. Cliff Huxtable character on "The Cosby Show" with the real man facing criminal charges. "It has been restored".

On Sunday's episode of Last Week Tonight, John Oliver briefly addressed the Bill Cosby trial and the recent announcement that the sexual assault case had ended in a mistrial.

Cosby had broken barriers as the first black actor to star in a network show, "I Spy", in the 1960s and, two decades later, created the top-ranked "Cosby Show". He found success with his "Fat Albert" animated TV show and starred in commercials for Jell-O pudding.

On Saturday, they came back and told O'Neill they were hopelessly deadlocked. Brown thinks the defense will have the upper hand during a retrial. None of the jurors commented after the trial ended and headed home to the Pittsburgh area, some 300 miles (483 kilometers) from the courthouse outside Philadelphia.

What's considered the best chance of getting Cosby on criminal charges - which he's never faced despite accusations from more than 30 women - will end with the judge declaring a mistrial.

MS LINDA FAIRSTEIN, former head of the sex crimes unit with the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. He was charged shortly before the statute of limitation was set to expire.

But he said he no longer had them when he met Constand in 2002 at Temple University.

"We commend those prosecutors who raised awareness that one of the hallmarks of drug-related sexual assaults is the effect the drug has on the victim's memory and ability to recall and were nonetheless willing to present this evidence to the jury", she said in a statement that her attorneys released to U.S. media.
