UFC stars excited about big fight

The unorthodox nature of Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor's super-fight will make it the richest boxing match in history, according to industry insiders.

The Straight Blast Gym head-coach tweeted "10 weeks #McGregorVsMayweather" alongside an image of himself and The Notorious One.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KO) is returning to action after being retired for two years. The fight has been rumoured to take place inside the MGM Garden arena in Las Vegas, which has been the host of fights such as Mike Tyson vs Evander Holyfield and even Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao. Ellerbe has made a point to let the world know that Mayweather is in no way taking this fight lightly because of how unsafe McGregor's striking is.

"But Conor McGregor is going to go into a boxing match and box Floyd Mayweather, so that is why people love this kid".

That line may move as the pay-per-view event gets closer and money starts coming in heavily on the bout. McGregor is a southpaw, which has given Mayweather trouble in the past, but the gloves will also be bigger than what he is accustomed to in the UFC, which could take away some of his power. "I was actually a guy who got tickets and I couldn't get the tickets the week of the fight. Conor would depart with a whole lot of money if that ever happened". He said that a win for McGregor would make him the biggest athlete in the world.

"Floyd is the greatest of all time and Conor is the master of our sport", MMA promoter Dana White said.

"The reason Conor McGregor's as big as he is is he'll fight anybody, anywhere, any time". For White, the obvious answer is McGregor but Ellerbe sees it the opposite way.

Go ahead and block off August 26-27 on your calendar now. "Anywhere and everywhere I go, it's all that people are talking about".

So here is a round-up of what has been said about what is already one of the most talked about fights in history. Now the Vegas odds for the fight stands at -1100 Mayweather, +700 McGregor.

"It's up to the fans if they are going to patronize or see the fight", Pacquiao told Philstar.com on Thursday-via a text message relayed by his media officer Aquiles Zonio-from his training camp in General Santos City.
