Perez mum on rumors Ronaldo wants to leave Madrid

"As no other candidature was put forward to the board ... it is proclaimed that Mr Florentino Pérez Rodríguez is president of Real Madrid", the club said in a statement.

The Portugal captain is reportedly unhappy at constantly being whistled at by his own team's fans, while the recent tax fraud allegations and the resulting negative media reports are said to have been the final straw for the Portuguese.

He is accused of evading tax to the value of 14.7m euros (£13m; $16m) between 2011 and 2014.

There are very few clubs who would be able to afford Ronaldo's transfer fee and his wages.

The 32-year-old won three Premier Leagues title and the Champions League during his initial stay at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson. Although that claim will be met with understandable scepticism, not least because of the briefings from Ronaldo's camp this week, clubs are nevertheless being encouraged to believe he is serious in his desire to quit and would welcome offers. The bombshell that blew up the transfer market dropped on Friday, when it was reported by Spanish outlet Marca that Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid this summer. He will be in charge of the club for the next four years.

And among the first issues he will have to deal with is Ronaldo ― who he bought in 2009 from Manchester United for a record €94 million (RM448 million).

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has categorically denied suggestions that the German champions are preparing to launch a move for Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo. But, like Lionel Messi, his stock is going to fall sometime.

He did say Ronaldo is under contract, but everyone knows that.

The Portuguese worldwide is now in Russian Federation competing for the European champions in the Confederations Cup.

It merely adds to the air of uncertainty. The 2016/2017 season has not been Ronaldo's best season.

A four-time Ballon d'Or victor, the 32-year-old Ronaldo is the top European soccer player.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is set to speak about Cristiano Ronaldo's future on Monday evening as speculation continues to mount over a possible Manchester United return.
