Why Bill Cosby Apologized To His Accuser's Mother

"In that conversation I think I've said to you already that I apologized to this woman but my apology was, my God, I'm in trouble with these people because this is an old man and their young daughter and the mother sees this". And what people want to say and want you to say and how they maneuver, and, yes, I do have lawyers protect me - objection; sustained. She said she has neither bias against or toward Cosby.

It's giving jurors a look at his view of the January 2004 encounter where Andrea Constand says he drugged and violated her at his suburban Philadelphia home.

"The case moves on!"Rohrig, a forensic toxicologist, testified that the effects Constand testified to, including drowsiness and blurred vision, could be consistent with either Benadryl or quaaludes, both of which are central nervous system depressants. With the prosecution resting Friday, the defense will begin to present its case Monday".

When she asked if they were herbal, he nodded, she told jurors.

"Nothing's ever off the table", he said during a break in testimony.

The deposition came as part of Constand's civil lawsuit, which was filed in 2005 soon after prosecutors declined to bring charges at the time. According to Judge O'Neill, Dr. Veronique Valliere is permitted under a Pennsylvania state law created following the Jerry Sandusky/Penn State sexual abuse scandal.

Kicking off Day 5 of Cosby's trial this morning, District Attorney Kevin Steele walked Detective Reape through the portion of Cosby's deposition where he talks about being confronted on the phone by Constand's mother.

One moment in that decade-old testimony elicited a chuckle from jurors and a rare courtroom smile from the defendant - a question and answer about the now-deceased doctor who wrote the Quaaludes prescription, knowing full well Cosby didn't intend to take the pills himself.

A lawyer asked if Cosby believed that the Constands were after money.

But Cosby's defense lawyer, Brian McMonagle, noted that throughout the deposition that Cosby described the encounter with his accuser, Andrea Constand, as consensual. Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt said the TV star told her stay away so that she wouldn't have to endure the "media circus".

She also said that reporting the incident to authorities was not necessarily a person's first response.

"My wife would not know it was because Andrea and I had had sex and that Andrea was now very, very upset", Cosby said, according to the transcript. Only in Constand's case has Cosby been charged.

Ms Constand refused the offer and reported Cosby to police, filing suit after prosecutors failed to file charges. In that deposition, Cosby said he had previously acquired quaaludes and had given them to women with whom he wanted to have sex. The comedian contends that his relationship with Constand was consensual, and that the broken Benadryl tablets he admits to giving her on the night she says the assault took place were only meant to help her sleep. Actress Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played his daughter, Rudy, on "The Cosby Show", was at his side as he made his way into the building.

Cosby pressed Gianna Constand to agree to an in-person meeting to discuss their problems and the possibility of the wealthy entertainer paying for Andrea Constand to attend graduate school.
