Sneak peek of Disney's Star Wars theme park

Sneak peek of Disney's Star Wars theme park

"To say we are excited for the Star Wars-themed lands to open in 2019 is an understatement", chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Bob Chapek said.

Expect more news on Star Wars Land to be revealed during D23 this weekend and stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Star Wars franchise as we learn it.

The 14-acre (5.6 hectare) zones will represent each park's largest ever single-themed land expansion.

Disney has released images and a video of a large-scale 3D model depicting the upcoming park. According to Bloomberg, the new Star Wars lands will cost about $1 billion each. "From the Millennium Falcon ride to the battle of the First Order and the shops to the restaurants, Star Wars Land will no doubt be quite the immersive experience".

The model shows building designs that would look right at home in a Star Wars movie, surrounded in lush plant life. Not only have there been storm troopers on parade since the company acquired Star Wars from Lucasfilms, but it was announced long ago in this galaxy that plans were being developed. As of now, fans can enjoy special character encounters to favourite attractions like Star Tours - The Adventures Continue, and interactive entertainment like Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple at all Disney parks and resorts around the world.

"The model, hand-crafted by Disney's talented Imagineers, reveals all the interplanetary nooks and crannies that will ultimately be explored by thousands of fans".

Disney unveiled the models at a preview to D23 Expo, a three-day fan event that begins on Friday in Anaheim, California.
