Rohan Bopanna and Gabriela Dabrowski went down fighting to Henri Kontinen and Heather Watson in the mixed doubles quarterfinals, bringing an end to India's challenge at the Wimbledon, here. While Desai lost in the third round of the girls' singles to top seed Kayla Day of the United States 4-6 4-6; the pair of Mahak Jain and Mihika Yadav lost in the first round of the girls' doubles.

Murray and Watson can not meet until the final, and it will be a familiar face on the other side of the net whatever for Murray if he and Hingis make it.

Bopanna and Dabrowski started off well with a narrow win in the first set before Kontinen and Watson took their game up a notch to take the second.

"I was watching them play last night", Murray said of wild cards Skupski and Rae, who had beaten Max Mirnyi and Ekaterina Makarova in a titanic tussle on Wednesday evening. "We've got to be ready". They ten held serve to win the set and the match.

"I've trained with Joss a bit, I've known Ken since forever".

"It was cool that there are still British players to play later in the second week of grand slams".
