Blake set to play a spy now

The current plan is to start shooting this autumn in the US, UK, Ireland, Spain, and Switzerland.

Both Lively and Morano are now in the midst of other projects. She's now in post-production on a post-apocalyptic drama in which Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning play two survivors of a mysterious incident that destroyed the rest of the world. That was directed by Paul McGuigan.

The news was announced Wednesday, July 12 by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson of EON Productions, which produced the past eight 007 films, and Stuart Ford of IM Global, which is financing the project. Based on the series by British writer Mark Burnell, the film will star Lively as a woman whose family was killed in a plane crash.

She then seeks to uncover the truth by adapting the identity of an assassin to track down those responsible. After finding out that the tragedy wasn't an accident, Patrick assumes the role of assassin to avenge her family's untimely deaths.

This could also spell franchise opportunities for Lively, given that there are three more books in the series ripe for adaptation if The Rhythm Section is a success. She was honored with an Independent Spirit Award nomination for cinematography in her directorial debut Meadowland starring Olivia Wilde and Luke Wilson, where she also served as the film's cinematographer. Before Morano turned to directing, the cinematographer shot Frozen River, The Skeleton Twins, Kill Your Darlings, and episodes of Vinyl. Lively has already dipped her toes into more adrenaline-pumping waters with last year's thriller The Shallows. That same summer, she appeared in Woody Allen's Cafe Society, which premiered at Cannes. Morano and Lively are one promising combo for this spy thriller. Lively is also represented by Management 360. IM Global and WME Global are handling worldwide rights.
