'The Incredibles 2' D23 Expo: Jack-Jack's powers, cast, and story detailed

Something quite incredible happened at D23.

"The Incredibles 2", due out in 2018, will pick up just after the first film ended, Pixar chief creative officer John Lasseter told IGN on Friday. According to ScreenRant's report on The Incredibles 2, Elastigirl will be front and center, fighting the bad guys while Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) to stay home and look after their baby Jack Jack and his expanding array of superpowers. Huck Milner will take over the role of Dashiell, who was voiced by Spencer Fox in the original.

A mockumentary clip was also shown regarding fan favorite, stylist Edna Mode. In an effort to protect the household, Jack-Jack attacks the raccoon and showcases a variety of powers that include phasing through solid object, super strength, fire powers, telekinesis, and laser eyes. Thinking that the raccoon looks like the burglar, he confronts it. His trick? He can multiply.

The two-time Oscar winning film has been a fan-favourite since it came out, but writer/director Brad Bird went off to work on the likes of Ratatouille, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland, but he is finally back, and he is bringing the family back together. Once they started showing off footage and animation tests of the various characters, though, things got really exciting. "It's like driving a better auto". Concept art was also shown during the panel which shows how the Parr family are coping with Jack-Jack growing up, "baby-proofing" the house. Luckily, Jack Jack is pretty tough.

The Incredibles 2 was originally supposed to be released in 2019, but Pixar confirmed past year that it would be pushed up to June 2018, switching spots with the highly-anticipated Toy Story 4. It was announced John Lasseter will no longer be co-directing the film but Josh Cooley will be the lone director. Included in the video was a reveal of the first recorded line of dialogue from the film with an actor who has been in all the Toy Story movies, revealing Pixar's Jeff Pidgeon inhaling helium and going "oooo" for the Pizza Planet alien.

Dan Scanlon has been announced as the director.
