Amazon Alexa or Google Home: Which one is better?

Amazon Alexa or Google Home: Which one is better?

"Customers on the move can ask Alexa on the U11 for music and news, to cool their smart house on their way home from work, to check if they locked their front door, and to access thousands of other Alexa skills".

Alexa and Echo have found their biggest success within markets where they faced minimal competition, at least at launch. Unlike Apple Siri which made its journey from a smartphone to a smart speaker, Amazon's Alexa did quite the opposite.

The year 2016 witnessed the rise of several smart-home speakers. It's U.S. only for now, but HTC says localized versions are on the way. Amazon encourages shoppers to sign up for the 30-day free trial to capture the deals, and that strategy appears to have paid off as, "More new members joined Prime on July 11 than on any single day in Amazon history", according to the company's press release. You can ask it for guidance by just saying "Alexa, help". So if the U11 is sitting on a table and you say "Alexa", it will hear you and its screen will wake up, but you'll have to manually unlock the phone before you say the rest of your request.

Consumers are still anxious about security and privacy issues, however, when buying things on a voice-controlled device, the study says. For example, if you live in Fort Lauderdale and work in Miami, asking Alexa for the weather from would result in hearing the weather from home, or wherever you have the home address set to.

Companies have been trying to shoehorn the voice-powered Alexa assistant onto everything from smartwatches to cars, but strangely, there's one type of device that still lacks the kind of Alexa integration you'd expect: smartphones. It can connect easily to Amazon's retail website and let your shop for products, by just using a voice-input.

The Walker Sands study also notes that even as consumers embrace alternative shopping, they still want to visit traditional stores. More importantly, it can not really utilize the strengths of a smartphone, unlike other voice assistants.

With the new update, Amazon Echo and Echo Dot owners will be able to control playback, search for videos, and launch apps without pressing a button on the remote.

You can not interrupt Alexa by saying “Alexa, stop” while shes rambling, press the back button to do this.
