Ann Coulter bumped from Delta seat, calls it nation's worst airline

Delta Airlines has hit back at conservative commentator Ann Coulter after she unleashed a social media tirade in a row over seat reassignment on one of the airline's flights.

"At the time of boarding, Delta inadvertently moved Coulter to 15A - a window seat - when working to accommodate several passengers with seating requests", a Delta spokesperson said.

Coulter tweeted at Delta on Saturday - apparently after her flight from New York's La Guardia airport to West Palm Beach, Florida, had landed - calling it the "worst airline in America".

Coulter called the woman who was given her seat "dachshund-legged" and said that Delta employees are comparable to prison guards, animal handlers and Stasi policemen.

The airline claimed Coulter had originally booked seat 15F, a window seat in an exit row; seats in such rows generally come with additional legroom. Of course, she ended that tweet with "Delta sucks".

It said it only learned of Coulter's complaints after she began tweeting about it on July 15, following the flight's arrival.

"Lmao Delta peeled 30 bucks off of their cash roll and dropped it on the floor in front of Coulter and told her to STFU", another said. Many accused Coulter of being angry because a "brown woman" was put in her pre-booked seat, though the race of the woman who was given Coulter's seat is not clear. At the very least, the airline could offer a proper explanation for the seat change and guarantee some sort of concession for a future flight.

The incident generated some social media sympathy from people dissatisfied with airline service, a topic that went viral in April when a man was dragged off a United flight to make room for a flight crew in transit.

The 55-year-old Coulter was dissatisfied with Delta's reply.

Gillian Brockell, a former flight attendant, defended Delta when she wrote: "I can say there are a lot of "emergency" reasons to put a family together. Which is confidential info they wouldn't be able to share with a dissatisfied passenger".
