Biden to visit Schenectady on 'Promise' tour

Former Vice President Joe Biden announced on Monday that he will embark on a speaking tour across the country later this year as he promotes his new book-sparking renewed cries for him to challenge President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election.

Biden will stop in 19 cities as part of the tour, with Schenectady one of the smallest among them. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for the December 13 event, and all ages are welcome.

Flatiron Books publisher Bob Miller said Biden's work is a "rare book" that delves into the life of such a prominent figure. Full tour dates can be found here. Proceeds from this event will benefit The Dreamland Theatre's nonprofit, year-round youth theatre program, which provides Nantucket's young people with the opportunity to develop and accelerate acting and public speaking skills, self-confidence and stage presence.Tickets for the American Promise Tour go on sale to the general public on Friday, July 28 at 10 am. Ticket purchases include a copy of the book.

The book will be published with Flatiron Books of NY.

"A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose", Biden's book delves into a deeply personal story of mourning, coping and pain since the death of his son Beau from brain cancer in 2014, The Times reported. The book, due out November 14, will not only touch on the big political moments of Biden's life, including his work with President Barack Obama, but will also deal with the loss of his son Beau, who died at 46 of brain cancer, and how Biden is finding new goal in a troubled political time.

"It's pretty special to have a vice president in the house", he said, adding that Proctors had been in touch with Biden's representatives for some time before recently receiving confirmation of his visit. Never far away was the insistent question of whether he should seek the presidency in 2016.
