Clarence House has released a new portrait to mark the 70th birthday of the Duchess of Cornwall.

The party was the second celebration of Camilla's birthday, which falls on Monday 17 July.

Twelve years after their controversial civil wedding, which followed years of public rancour over their relationship, the portrait makes clear that they are very much a partnership of equals as they move, albeit reluctantly, ever closer to the throne.

The last official portrait of prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, which celebrates the 70's, the duchess of Cornwall, looks at a glance to Lady Diana.

In the image, the Duchess stands next to her husband, the Prince of Wales as they wear matching navy blazers. Camilla has chosen the favorite photographer of the late princess... Pictured front row (l-r), Prince William, Prince George, the Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte, and the Queen.

The Duchess reaches her milestone birthday in good form. The photographer also added that in 2006, at their first meeting, he had discovered "a person is lovely and generous, with a wonderful sense of humor". "In a statement, the latter said that he was very " honored " to have immortalized the couple " for this very important date ", that is to say, the 70th birthday of the Duchess of Cornwall.

The Queen and Prince Philip marked the 70th anniversary of their engagement, Philip fulfilled his final ceremonial duty, and now the Duchess of Cornwall has celebrated her 70th birthday. She recently hosted a star-studded reception at Clarence House.

Many of Camilla's personal friends, family members and even former staff were at the party too along with her ex-husband Andrew Parker-Bowles and her sister Annabel Elliot.
