At the time, Justin-Trudeau Adam Bilal's mother said they were grateful to the prime minister for bringing so many Syrian refugees to Canada.

Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau has met a Syrian baby named in his honour by a refugee couple after they resettled in Canada. The couple, who were forced to flee their home in Damascus due to the Syrian civil war, arrived in Canada in February 2016 with their two older children.

Little Justin-Trudeau is the son of Syrian refugees and was given the same name as him as a "thank you" gesture.

Baby Trudeau is the son of Syrian refugees Muhammad and Afraa Bilan.

On the margins of his participation at the National Governors Association meeting, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met today with Matthew Bevin, Governor of Kentucky. Some even criticised the government for not doing much for refugees.

As per a Huffington Post report, the Bilals are not the only family to name their child after Trudeau. "PM Trudeau on holding the baby boy said, "'This is Justin-Trudeau, ' and after a while, he said, "I appreciate that you named him after my name".

It's a common Arabic tradition to name a child after a person with good character, Ahmed Doso explained to CBC News past year.

After US President Donald Trump in January first announced his travel ban barring immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries, Mr Trudeau struck a decidedly different tone on his Twitter.
