Gareth Bale "happy playing in Madrid"

Gareth Bale

"The truth is that I do not read any of that".

Cristiano Ronaldo's former teammate at Real Madrid, Michel Salgado feels the Portuguese will end his football career at the record European football champions, ruling out any prospect of his moving out of Spain.

Bale was a part of a Real Madrid team that landed La Liga and the Champions League last season, but a frustrating campaign for the Welshman on a personal level saw him restricted to just 27 appearances in all competitions due to a number of injury problems.

Cristiano Ronaldo will not feature for Real Madrid against his old club Manchester United in the UEFA Super Cup on August 8.

The Wales global scored nine goals in 27 appearances in all competitions last season.

"Everything went well until January, but it was bad luck and you can't avoid injuries in football", he said, explaining he has worked "12 hours a day" to be fit in time for the Champions League final, which was played in Cardiff. Look, I only found out yesterday that (Romelu) Lukaku has signed for Manchester United... "Logically I am a British player and I am always linked with a return home", he told Marca when asked about United's interest. It happened with [David] Beckham, with other English players who came to Spain.

"But I am pretty sure that Cristiano is so happy at Real Madrid, and Real Madrid is happy with Cristiano". I honestly don't know.

"I'm going to try and have my best season, of course, and if I respect the injuries I will have a great season. But you would have to ask him". "Logically it was very hard, but the most important thing is that we won titles and very important ones".
