UFC Glasgow: Santiago Ponzinibbio registers huge upset victory over Gunnar Nelson

The fight ended at the 1:22 mark, when Ponzinibbio (25-3) knocked Nelson out cold with a left hand along the fence.

He's been quietly putting together a quality run in the UFC for some time now, but this could be the performance that really brings him into the spotlight as nobody has ran through Nelson like that before.

The welterweight division is notoriously a snake pit, where it's tough to string together several wins in a row, but if the fighters at 170 pounds didn't have an eye on Ponzinibbio before now, he certainly made everyone pay attention to him with this victory.

Cynthia Calvillo is also poised for a major step forward in the women's strawweight division after winning a unanimous decision over Joanne Calderwood in the co-main event. He came close to finishing the fight on two occasions with a rear naked choke.

Now, chances are Ponzinibbio boosters aren't going to care for this post-fight analysis. Calvillo almost finished Calderwood with a rear-naked choke in the closing seconds of the fight.

CALVILLO WINS Much like Mr. Ponzinibbio, Ms. Calvillo had the hometown fans dejected after beating their bet Calderwood by unanimous decision in their scheduled three-rounder, 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28.

"I wish I could have got the finish, but I got the win so ultimately that's what matters", Calvillo said.

Henry bit down on his mouthpiece, weathered the storm and came off the stool in the second round a different fighter as he used his superior reach advantage to start punishing the Swede.

Light heavyweight Khalil Rountree (6-2) knocked out Paul Craig (9-2) with an absolutely savage hammerfist at 4:56 of the opening round.

Both of UFC's Welsh contingent claimed victories on the night, with Jack Marshman getting back in the win column with a unanimous decision win over Ryan Janes on the event's main card.
