'Walking Dead' Stars Mourn The Death Of Stuntman John Bernecker

Sources tell Deadline that Bernecker suffered a serious head injury after falling 30 feet to a concrete floor.

Hawk said Bernecker died from blunt force trauma and that his death is considered accidental. Production on season eight of The Walking Dead has temporarily shut down in the wake of the accident, believed to be the first fatal accident related to a stunt in almost two decades.

AMC said in a statement circulated among United States media outlets that it was temporarily shutting down production of the hit show, which is filmed in Georgia.

Stuntman John Bernecker on "The Walking Dead" show was seriously injured in an accident on its set in Georgia, leading cable network AMC to temporarily shut down production of its eighth season. "We are grateful for his contributions, and all of us send our condolences, love, and prayers to John's family and friends". "He will always be part of the TWD family", the show wrote.

AMC is expected to release the trailer and announce the premiere date of "The Walking Dead" season 8 at the show's press panel at the San Diego Comic-Con 2017 on Friday, July 21.

SAG-AFTRA represents stunt professionals, and they're investigating the accident.

The Walking Dead team have paid an emotional tribute to stuntman John Bernecker, who died on Thursday following a fall. He has also worked for the big screen, including several Marvel as Logan or recently Black Panther.

Earlier reports revealed the stuntman was immediately transported to Atlanta Medical Hospital after he suffered a fall while filming in Georgia.

"We are deeply saddened by this loss and our hearts and prayers are with John's family, friends and colleagues during this extremely hard time", the network said in a statement. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
