Ander Herrera: I'll 'do everything possible' to stop David De Gea leaving

De Gea nearly completed a move to Madrd in 2015 from United and since then has regularly been linked with a transfer to the Spanish capital.

"He's happy and I know I sound repetitive because I always say the same thing", said Herrera. The night before the L.A. Galaxy exhibition, United Manager Jose Mourinho discussed how and why the Morata negotiations fell apart, before United then went and signed Everton's Romelu Lukaka instead.

United insiders believe a bid is imminent as the two sides prepare to face off on their USA pre-season tour on July 23.

The club's first competitive match of the new campaign will also be against Real Madrid in the European Super Cup on August 8, however, and Herrera is already looking to the clash in Macedonia.

And now, Reds' fan-favourite midfielder Ander Herrera, who plays alongside Morata in the Spanish national side, has expressed disappoint over his fellow compatriot's failed move to Manchester. "I prefer to have him with me, so I will do everything possible to have him here".

Recent reports in the British press suggests that Herrera will sign a new four-year, £41.6million Manchester United contract.

Herrera told Spanish publication Marca: "Madrid are the most powerful side at the moment".

"I'm going to do everything I can to make sure he stays".

"I am just as motivated, of course, playing against Madrid and it's a good test for us. We're a strong team with a winning Coach".
