Pizza spill shuts down highway after crash

A mass load of the pizzas ended up spilling across Interstate 30 in front of the Arkansas Department of Transportation office.

According to preliminary data, the truck which was carrying a pizza, hit a bridge support.

The trailer of the 18-wheeler was sliced open when it scraped the bridge on Interstate 30 near Little Rock, Arkansas.

Associated Press reported that agency spokesman Danny Straessle said that nobody was hurt, and the bridge only suffered cosmetic damage, although "there were some people shaken up". Sadler said an investigation into the crash is ongoing. Trucks equipped with vacuums and mechanical brooms were used to remove large amounts of cheese, pepperoni and sauce from the pavement.

Highway officials shut down westbound lanes of a cross-country interstate for four hours so crews could pick up pizza.

No one was injured in the crash, though Straessle noted there were "Lots of pizza fatalities".
